Kamakura Museum of History and Culture

Experience the history and culture of Kamakura in a building that is in harmony with the scenery of the ancient city

In May 2017, the museum opened in a building designed as a private residence by the firm of the internationally celebrated architect Norman Foster. The museum presents the history of Kamakura from ancient times to the present day with exhibits focused on artifacts excavated in Kamakura. The latest video displays including Georama projection mapping, the garden that vividly recalls the medieval landscape, and the view over the sea from high ground are not to be missed.
