Kiyokata in the Taisho Period: Searching for the Expression of His Own

Around 110 years ago, beginning of the Taisho period, Kaburaki Kiyokata was turning into Japanese style painter from an illustrator. Receiving the highest award of Bunten, the government-run art exhibition in 1915 and producing other great works, he come to fame as a Japanese style painter. However, he had continued to search and develop his own potential of new creation.
This exhibition shows Kiyokata’s works in the Taisho period to trace his path of seeking new creation.
