Thematic Exhibition

After the Meiji era Restoration, adoption of western clothes for Japanese people had advanced slowly. From late of Meiji era to Taisho era, beautiful women in kimono on frontispieces or supplements of publication illustrated by Kiyokata or other painters entertained readers.
This exhibition shows beautiful kimono-style for winter on frontispieces and raised clothes battledores inspired by Kiyokata’s work.
