Kiyokata had visited Kanagawa many times and fascinated with amazing view of this area.
The special exhibition is centered on his works representing natural scenery and beautiful women.

　This exhibition shows Kiyokata’s works which depicting the beauty of women as if it had melted into nature, and frontispieces of women’s appearances with sense of the season which drawn by his smooth brushwork.

　Kiyokata loved theater culture whole his life and made many drawings based on the stories of theatrical plays.
This exhibition shows Shibai-e (drama-themed painting) and frontispieces inspired by Japanese literature.

　The exhibition celebrates the New Year with Kiyokata’s works and hagoita with raised cloth pictures made by Nagai Shuzan.

　The exhibition highlights Kiyokata’s masterpieces in which he depicted beautiful women with sense of seasons.

　We commemorate the 120th anniversary of the death of a Japanese novelist, Higuchi Ichiyo.
Kiyokata loved Ichiyo’s works and painted various characters which appeared in those novels.
In this exhibition, you see mainly the Kiyokata’s paintings and illustrations inspired by Ichiyo’s and
the other novelists’ literature.

　This exhibition shows mainly beautiful summer scenery in Kiyokata’s paintings and frontispieces.
His sketches, preparatory drawings and proof sheets are also exhibited and its making process is introduced.

　The exhibition introduces Kiyokata’s works exhibited at Sansan-kai exhibition held by
Takashimaya department store before and after the war.

　The exhibition features Kiyokata’s affection for the landscapes and customs in Tokyo in the Meiji period
remaining popular culture of the Edo period.

　This exhibition highlights Kiyokata’s early works of Japanese-style painting. Around that time,
he decided to change his job from a popular illustrator to a painter.
