《築地明石町》の画因となった夫人の17回忌に、夫人の遺族から依頼されて制作した作品。
夫人の美しさを紫陽花に見立て、夫婦の姿として二つの花を描きました。

Kiyokata painted this work at the request of the family of the woman who was his model for Tsukiji-Akashichō on the occasion of the seventeenth memorial ceremony after her death.
The hydrangea alludes to her beauty, and he painted two hydrangeas to represent the woman and her husband.
