田圃の川べりで大根を洗う人物を、点景のようにとらえた風景画。画面の奥には民家も見えます。清方は大正4年（1915）から自然の美を主題とする制作を始め、大正10年（1921）頃からは農村の風情に取材するようになりました。自然の中に人の暮らしを添えて風景画として制作しました。

The figure washing daikon radishes in a stream running through a rice paddy is an incidental detail in this landscape painting. A farmhouse is also visible in the background. In 1915, Kiyokata started to produce works on the theme of natural beauty, and around 1921, he began to work on paintings of farming villages. He produced landscape paintings in which the human figures were incidental to the natural environment.
