まだあどけない長女への清方の温かなまなざしが感じられる作品です。レースの付いた日傘を手に、ごく自然な表情とポーズで父親の前に立つ娘の姿を描きました。軽く前後に開いた足元、草履の鼻緒には小さな鈴が描かれていて、少女の幼い歩みとともに鳴る、可愛らしい音が画面から聞こえてきそうです。
清方の代表作の一つ《朝涼》（大正14年（1925））は16歳になった長女の姿を描いたものです。ほかにも、《築地明石町》（昭和2年（1927））制作時も立ち姿のモデルを務めるなど、清方の作品制作に深く関わりました。

Here, we feel the warmth of Kiyokata’s gaze as he looks at his oldest daughter, who is still an innocent child. Holding a parasol trimmed with lace, she stands facing her father, her pose and expression quite natural. The little girl is depicted with feet apart, one foot slightly behind the other, and small bells attached to the straps of her zori sandals evoking the sweet sound of bells ringing in step with her walk.
One of Kiyokata’s masterpieces, Cool of the Morning (1925), depicts Kiyoko, his oldest daughter, at age sixteen. Closely associated with Kiyokata’s work, Kiyoko was also the model for other works, including the standing figure in Tsukiji Akashi-chō (1927).
